Amsterdam Light Festival

From November 29th 2018 until January 20th 2019 the 7th annual Amsterdam Light Festival shines it light on the city of Amsterdam. During this winter event 30 light sculptures, projections and installations made by (inter)national artists are to be seen.

We'd be very pleased to welcome you aboard a comfortably warm Rederij Kooij boat on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings. During Dutch Christmas holiday's we're open every night with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and December 31st. ​

Pricing Amsterdam Light Festival

  • Adults: € 19,50 (online) € 21,50 on Jetty.
  • Children (age 5 to 12): € 10,00 (online) € 12,00 on Jetty.

All boats are closed, heated and have a toilet a board. To make perfect photos of the artworks you can open the windows.

The official audiotour will comment in Englisch and Dutch on all the Light Artworks you pass during the cruise.


Drinks available 

On the jetty available and prior to boarding: hot chocolate, mulled wine (gluhwein), beer and soda 


Wheelchair accesible: unfortuanatly not because of the steps leading to our jetty.

Opening hours: Friday to Sunday. During Dutch Christmas holiday (December 24th  2016 – January 8th 2017) every night with the exception of December 24th, 25th and 31st.

See the Amsterdam Light Festival aboard a Rederij Kooij boat. A departure at least every 20 minutes. During the tour we’ll provide English language commentary about the sculptures and installations.

‘Ein kurzer Einblick in die Geschichte eines 100% Amsterdamschen Familienunternehmens’

Alles begann mit Piet Kooij; einem jungen Amsterdammer Unternehmer, der gemeinsam mit seinem Vater Büffets auf Fährdiensten auf dem Nordseekanal von Amsterdam nach IJmuiden pachtete. Wasser, Boote und Amsterdam waren die drei großen Lieben von Piet und daher genoss er seine Arbeit.
